Casper Ravnskjaer
Project Manager, Project Engineering

What is the first thing you do when you get started with work for the day?

I often start my morning by checking my inbox. Being in a global project manager role, emails come in all time, day or night, and it’s very important for me to be up-to-date on any new information regarding the projects that I’m in charge of.

What are your main areas of focus in your work as a Project Manager?

As a project manager in the engineering department I have many focus areas. In collaboration with my team, we specify, design, build and implement our future production equipment or modify the existing, all with a lot of different technical processes on our Infusion Care manufacturing sites in Denmark and Mexico. One of my main areas of focus is to ensure progress and make the project successful within the Timeframe, Scope, and assigned Resources.
Selecting the right people fo the Team is crucial for any successful project, but the most challenging part is often related to communication and engagement. I try to communicate openly and involve the team in all the steps of the projects, from planning to implementation, to make sure than all Team members can be heard and commit to the project.

How do you organize/structure your work day with tasks/projects?

I have weekly follow-up meetings with the team both in Denmark and Mexico and thereby gaining a continuous dialogue on both on-going, coming and completed tasks. Depending on the outcome from these meetings, we often follow up on the different tasks during the week. All tasks are part of our project plan, which is made at the start of the project. This is being updated continuously. Based on this, everyone has the opportunity get an overview on all performed and future tasks. Depending on the stage of the project the tasks often also include several international travels upon implementation on the different production sites and/or meetings with suppliers.

As a Project Manager, do you collaborate with a team or mainly work autonomously? Which do you prefer?

I mainly collaborate with my project team. Only together we are able to succeed. I prefer to work with a team, but I do also like to do the things autonomously. For example, a project plan. In this specific case I prefer to initiate this by myself, but of course I need some relevant input from my team to create the best and most reliable plan.

Which part of your work do you enjoy the most, and why?

I love to work with people and see how my behaviour and leadership style towards them can make incredible results in our project. I also enjoy having a good and constructive dialogue with possible suppliers around the world, when we are investigating the best engineering solution.

If you had more hours in the day to focus on new skills related to your job or projects for your work, what would you focus on?

I would like to use more time at developing my leadership skills moving towards a position involving formal leadership. This is certainly huge area for interest for me.

What is your special non-professional skill/ magic power/ hobby you’re proud of/ what is not on you CV but you find it interesting?

I enjoy spending my free time in the kitchen, cooking new recipes that I have never tried before.
