Working safely in Rhymney
The Safety Standard Work Instructions (SWI) programme provides critical safety and quality information, using a combination of photographs and descriptions of potential hazards, highlighting methods to control the risks associated with a task.
The programme offers a team-based approach to safety improvement and by clearly highlighting the risks and control measures, improves safe working practices for new and existing employees.
The SWIs were developed in partnership with operators and supervisors, providing a valuable opportunity for experienced employees to share knowledge with colleagues and develop improved safety controls.

Safety culture and training in Michalovce
At our Michalovce site, a holistic approach has strengthened our overall safety performance, by fostering a feeling of community and pride, through a range of live and digital activities designed to promote proactive safety behaviours across all employee groups.
Encouraging and directly responding to colleague feedback has reinforced the message that ‘everyone can be a safety leader’ and campaigns are reinforced by recognising individuals and teams who are leading the way, highlighting the improvements they have delivered.
To support the development of a strong safety culture, layered audits led by department managers have also been introduced to ensure the focus extends beyond operations to HR, logistics and project teams.
