READING, UNITED KINGDOM (5 April 2017) — ConvaTec Group Plc (“ConvaTec”), a leading global medical technology company, today announced the U.S. launch of Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing, a light, flexible silicone foam dressing for managing low to non-exuding chronic and acute wounds.
The launch of Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing continues the company’s expansion into large, growing segments of advanced wound care, beginning with the successful launch of AQUACEL® Foam dressing into the $1.2 billion foam market and most recently with the European launch of the Avelle™ negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) system* into the fast-growing disposable segment of the NPWT market.
ConvaTec will showcase its new products, Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing and Sensi-Care® Skin Protectant Incontinence Wipes, alongside its full portfolio of advanced wound and skin care products to wound specialists attending the 30th Anniversary Symposium on Advanced Wound Care Spring / Wound Healing Society (SAWC Spring / WHS) Meeting from April 5-9 in San Diego, California.
Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing is a thin, flexible foam dressing developed specifically for managing low to non-exuding wounds, such as skin abrasions, skin tears and partial thickness burns, which do not require the absorbency of regular foam dressings. The new dressing complements ConvaTec’s range of AQUACEL® Foam dressings for moderately exuding wounds.
“As a dermatology specialist, I perform small surgeries that need a light foam dressing to support superficial wound care,” said Dr. Vincent Orlandini, Department of Dermatology, Bordeaux Hospital University Center, in Bordeaux, France. “In my experience, Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing is easy to apply, and patient tolerance when removing the dressing is good. For small surgical incisions, our outcomes have been remarkable.”
“ConvaTec is committed to providing wound specialists with a broad range of advanced foam dressings for managing a wide variety of patients’ wounds and offering simple solutions to the wound management challenges that they see every day,” said Fiona Adam, Vice President and General Manager, Advanced Wound Care. “We have had a very positive response from customers in Europe where we initially launched Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing last year, and we look forward to developing more advanced products and solutions that can help our customers protect fragile skin, defend against infection and help their patients resume their daily lives.”
Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing: Features and Benefits
Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing is a thin foam dressing with a breathable film and perforated, gentle silicone adhesive.*1 The dressing is flexible and conforms*1 to the body even in awkward positions or places such as elbows, wrists, knees and ankles.
The skin-friendly silicone adhesive is easy to apply, re-position and remove; it will not stick to gloves or to itself, and is designed to be non-damaging (atraumatic) to the wound and periwound skin upon dressing removal.*1,2 The soft foam layer is designed to absorb low levels of exudate and help maintain a moist wound healing environment.*1 The soft-to-touch outer film provides a protective barrier against water, bacteria and viruses.*
Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing is also available in France, the Netherlands, the U.K., Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Canada and Australia. The dressing is available in a number of sizes, which can also be cut to shape, and has a maximum recommended wear time of 7 days.
