Convatec Group Plc (LSE:CTEC), a FTSE 100 global medical products and technologies company focused on solutions for the management of chronic conditions, is pleased to announce its collaboration with Tandem Diabetes Care on a new five-inch infusion set for Tandem Mobi, the world’s smallest durable automated insulin delivery system that has now been FDA 510(k) cleared3. Convatec is the global leader2 in design and manufacturing of infusion technologies and insertion devices for insulin pump treatment.
Tandem Mobi is the latest insulin pump from Tandem Diabetes Care. The new insulin pump system aims to provide people living with diabetes with new options in wearability, the flexibility to disconnect, and full smartphone control. It has a 200-unit capacity, and is fully controllable from a mobile app. Tandem Mobi can fit in a coin pocket, be clipped to clothing, or worn on-body with an adhesive sleeve (sold separately by Tandem).
Specifically for Tandem Mobi, Convatec has developed the AutoSoft XC™ with a new 5” (12 cm) tubing. This set is now the shortest tubing provided by Convatec, enabling users to wear the pump as an on-body system providing both discretion but also flexibility.
Convatec is pleased to manufacture the infusion sets for the insulin pumps in the Tandem product portfolio, including the currently available t:slim X2 insulin pump. Tandem infusion set options include AutoSoft XC™, AutoSoft 90™, AutoSoft 30™, VariSoft™ and TruSteel™. which allow users to temporarily disconnect from their pump for convenience and provide the flexibility of more than 30 mix-and-match infusion site and tubing length combinations, depending on their lifestyles and wear preference. These infusion sets use a kink-resistant4 infusion tubing, supporting an uninterrupted insulin infusion. Convatec manufactures these sets at our production sites in Mexico.
Kjersti Grimsrud, President & Chief Operating Officer, Infusion Care said, “We are pleased to continue working with Tandem with whom we have had a longstanding partnership. This partnership further demonstrates Convatec’s leadership in infusion technology and the trust from our partners to collaborate on innovative technology to improve the quality of life of people with diabetes.”
